Karen K. Stone
Karen was born and raised in Hollydale a small town in Southern California, where she fell in love with horses. For 13 years, Karen dedicated her life to perfecting her skills in riding by traveling the western states showing primarily Arabian horses winning at the National level over the years.
Karen graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. While at Cal Poly, she worked as a Veterinary technician at the campus Veterinary Hospital for three years. She also participated on the Cal Poly Feedlot Project, Goat Showmanship Team, several large animal pharmaceutical research trials, and Cal Poly Bull Test.
After graduation, Karen stayed in San Luis to coordinate, organize and manage the opening of a new Veterinary Neurology Practice for small animals. After two years when the clinic was up and running Karen moved north to Davis, where she met and married her husband (Scott) of 22 years. While in Davis, Karen worked for the Davis Enterprise Newspaper, managing the classified Advertising Department for four years. Wanting a job with more flexibility, Karen obtained her real estate license and has worked as a rural property specialist for the past 20 years with both Coldwell Banker and California Agricultural Properties, Inc. that she and Scott own. In 2007, Karen developed and implemented the business plan for Yolo Land & Cattle’s direct marketing grass-fed beef program. She continues to manage the direct marketing of the grass-fed beef along with her husband Scott.
Karen continues to help at the ranch...when it involves riding & roping! She loves collecting many barn animals (goats, potbelly pigs, chickens, donkeys)...you name it! She has recently started to pursue her long time passion of connecting intercity children with horses and animals.
Karen has been active in many organizations over the years. She is a current board member of the Yolo County Agricultural Food Alliance and Davis High School Boys Lacrosse Boosters. She has also served on the California Rangeland Trust fundraising committee, committee member of the Willow Oak 4-H Livestock boosters and the Woodland High School FFA Boosters, as well as an AYSO Soccer board member.
