Scott A. Stone
Scott was born in 1957 in the small coastal town of Fort Bragg in California and was raised in Sacramento and Woodland, Ca. After graduating from Woodland High School Scott attended California State Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo where he majored in Agricultural Business Management. While at SLO Scott played three years on the Mustangs College Soccer team.
Upon graduation from Cal Poly, Scott worked for two years as an agricultural loan officer for Chico Production Credit Association in Chico, Ca. where he worked on all aspects of Farm and Ranch production and equipment loans. His next job was working as a Pest Control Advisor for three years for a Chemical and Fertilizer Company in Davis, Ca. This entailed working closely with farmers to plant, cultivate and harvest various tree crops and row-crops in the area.
In 1986 Scott came back to work with his father Henry on the family cattle ranch and farm, where he worked on the hay crops, the commercial cow herd and the stocker cattle operation . In addition to the cattle ranching and farming, in 1989 Scott started California Agricultural Properties, Inc. a Real Estate Company specializing in the sale of farms and ranches in Yolo and Solano Counties.
Scott is an active partner today in Yolo Land & Cattle Co. a diversified family agri-business partnership, and he and his wife Karen continue to own and operate California Agricultural Properties, Inc. Scott is a graduate of Class 28 of the California Agricultural Leadership Program and is active in many industry associations and serves as Chairman of the Board for the California Rangeland Trust. Scott and Karen live with their two sons Austin (20) and Carson (16) near Woodland, Ca. Scott enjoys spending time with his wife Karen, watching his sons play sports, riding horses, and playing guitar and singing with his Bluegrass and Western Swing Band.
